The European PVC pipe value chain has launched VinylPlus Pipes, a new initiative coordinating activities related to PVC pipe systems within the broader VinylPlus® framework.
VinylPlus Pipes succeeds the former PVC4Pipes initiative organised under the European Council of Vinyl Manufacturers and continues its work on technical performance, sustainability and circular economy aspects of PVC pipes used in water management, energy distribution and building applications.
PVC piping systems play an essential role in Europe’s infrastructure. Used in drinking water networks, wastewater systems, stormwater management and energy networks, PVC pipes offer long service life, corrosion resistance and reliable performance under demanding conditions. These characteristics make them a key material for resilient and resource-efficient infrastructure.
Through VinylPlus Pipes, the European PVC pipe value chain will strengthen cooperation and coordination on topics such as technical evidence, drinking water safety, standardisation and regulatory developments affecting PVC pipe systems.
The initiative focuses on supporting sound technical knowledge on the long-term behaviour of PVC pipes, including aspects such as design lifetime, leak tightness and lifecycle performance. It also contributes to the implementation of European drinking water requirements through a science-based approach and engagement with policymakers and technical stakeholders.
In addition, VinylPlus Pipes monitors regulatory and policy developments affecting the sector and facilitates dialogue with public authorities, utilities, researchers and industry experts to support informed decision-making on long-life infrastructure.
Participation in VinylPlus Pipes brings together organisations across the PVC pipe value chain, including resin and additive producers, compounders, pipe manufacturers, recyclers, machinery suppliers and technical institutes.
By coordinating expertise and collaboration across the sector, VinylPlus Pipes contributes to responsible production, long service life and circular use of PVC pipe systems in Europe.
The initiative forms part of the broader VinylPlus commitment to sustainable development, which has guided the European PVC industry for more than two decades through measurable targets, independent monitoring and value-chain collaboration.
